Funeral services for Linda Cunningham Edmonds, 64, of DeRidder, LA, will be held 4:00 PM, Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at New Life Baptist Church, DeRidder, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Kari Ifland and Rev. Lindsey Burns. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery, DeRidder, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue Wednesday, April 10, 2013, 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Linda was born May 23, 1948, to Jewell Champion Cunningham and Russell R. Cunningham in DeRidder, Louisiana. She is a 1966 graduate of DeRidder High School and earned both her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Northwestern State University, where she was a charter member and president of the Kappa Iota Chapter of Phi Mu Sorority and served on the PanHellenic Board.
Linda was a faithful member and past president of the prestigious education sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma International, Sigma Chapter, and a charter member of Visions Church of DeRidder. She was a loved and respected elementary teacher, both in Winnfield, Louisiana and DeRidder, and served as the school librarian at Pine Wood Elementary School in DeRidder for twenty years where she was currently employed. Linda passed from this life on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Lake Charles, LA.
Survivors include 1 son, Ty Edmonds and wife Kathryn of Baton Rouge, LA; 1 daughter, Natalie Edmonds Lord of DeRidder, LA; 2 brothers, John R. Cunningham and wife Karen of DeRidder, LA and James H. Cunningham of Kilgore, TX; her mother, Jewell Champion Cunningham of DeRidder, LA and 5 grandchildren, Braddock Russell Lord, Jackson Kenneth Lord, John Champion “Champ” Edmonds, Reagan Lynn Jinks and Hadley Kate Edmonds. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell R. Cunningham. Linda’s sweet spirit and dedication to her family and friends are the legacies of her life. Memorials may be made to the Beauregard Agape Community Clinic in DeRidder.
