Funeral services for Jessie James Hicks, 31, of Anacoco, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 20th from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, January 21st from 9: 00 a.m. until service time in the chapel.
Jessie, the son of James Allen Hicks and Teresa L. Ross Hicks was born June 19, 1982, in Pineville, LA. He passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014, in Leesville.
Jessie lived most of this life in Hicks and Anacoco, LA. He loved fishing, camping, hunting and looking for arrowheads. He enjoyed any activity that allowed him to spend time in the wooded area behind his MeMaws house in Anacoco. Jessie was a kid at heart and he loved children. His step-children, Tyler and Jayden Powell meant the world to him. In the past year, Jessie became very close to Skyler a special little boy whom he loved dearly. Jessie, if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. You will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Cecil Hicks; grandmother, Martha Hicks; uncles, Glen Hicks and Lewis Pace and aunts, Janice Chrispen and Scharlotte Ross Vandevender.
He is survived by his wife, Dodie Lynn Powell of Leesville; step-children, Tyler Powell and Jayden Powell; mother, Teresa L. Ross Hicks of Leesville; father, James Allen Hicks of the Toro Community; brother, Justin R. Hicks of Leesville; grandmother, Nettie Ross of Anacoco; uncles, James L. Anderson of Hornbeck, Jeffery H. Ross of Pickering and W. Paul Ross of Anacoco; aunts, Norma S. Ross of Anacoco and Laverne Pace of Minden and cousins, Mathew Pace, Amanda Pace, Ben Hicks, Barney Hicks, Richard Willis, Chris Chrispen, Jennifer Chrispen, James L Anderson, II, Derrick Ross, Diana Vandevender, Dacy Vandevender and Amanda Ross.
