Robert "Buck" Allison Ensminger was born on February 16, 1919 in Elkhart, Kansas. His family left their home and land behind in Campo, Colorado in 1936 to escape the Dust Bowl. They relocated to DeRidder, Louisiana, where he met the love of his life, Tressie Christine Fletcher. Buck was an honest man, a diligent worker, and a self-taught electrician. He was hired at the Texaco refinery in Port Neches, Texas, where he quickly advanced to supervisor. His career of thirty years at Texaco ended in 1977, when he then retired to DeRidder, fulfilling his lifelong dream of being a cowboy. Buck and Tressie had two children. He was a beloved family man, a loyal friend, and a Christian man devoted to the Lord. He is survived by his faithful, loving wife of 72 years, Tressie Ensminger, of DeRidder, Louisiana. He is survived by his children as follows, his devoted son, Bob Ensminger and daughter-in-law Nancy, of DeRidder Louisiana, his precious daughter, Gaye Lynn Bailey and son-in-law Terrell V. Bailey, of Nederland, Texas. He is survived by grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as follows, his first grandson, Cord Ensminger, his wife Candice, and son Drew, all of DeRidder, Louisiana, his grandson, Matt Ensminger, of Lafayette, Louisiana, his youngest grandson, Cody Bailey, and his wife Nicole, both of DeRidder, Louisiana, his only granddaughter, Laci Giroir, and her three daughters, Laken, Kassidy, and Kami Giroir, all of Nederland, Texas. He is survived by his brother and best friend, Allan Ensminger and his wife Marilyn, of DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation celebrating the life of Buck Ensminger will be on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Labby Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. The farewell service will be on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to join us for the internment following the service, at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana.
Donations in remembrance of the life of Buck Ensminger may be made in lieu of flowers to the Reserve Fund of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
